Nebraska State Treasurer’s Auction Generates $57,305
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska State Treasurer’s auction has raised $57,305 for the respectful owners.
In the past week, the auction was open with items from abandoned safe deposit boxes. The auction went from Oct. 6 to Oct. 14, raising more than they thought, according to State Treasurer Joey Spellerberg.
The total appraised value of the items was $36,974, which is $20,331 less than what was generated.
“This auction was a success,” Spellerberg said. “The abandoned items can be appreciated again, while
our team locked in the proceeds for the rightful owners or their heirs. I appreciate the hard work and
dedication of our Unclaimed Property Division, which made this auction possible.”
The items that were auctioned were received by the State Treasurer’s Office over a decade ago.
The money made through each item is recorded in the original owner’s name, and can be claimed by an owner or heir at their website.
